Many
areas of southwest Florida are facing issues of redevelopment
and increases in tourism. They need to have the infrastructure
to allow for residents and tourists alike, but also may seek
to preserve what they can of local sites and buildings. Also,
there sometimes are changes in land use or ownership (agricultural
to industrial, for example, or private to state), which stand
to affect local communities. Local newspapers are often the
best way to keep track of all that is going on with various
county and city commissioners and historic preservation boards
and other policy makers. Of course, local news and heritage
events also can be found this way!
Below
is a list of many local newspapers and their websites.
